Hafthor Bjornsson, who plays “The Mountain” on HBO’s hit series “Game of Thrones” became the first man to lift over 500 kg on May 2nd 2020. The new deadlift record now stands at 501kg (1104 lb).
The previous record was set by Eddie Hall – England’s former professional strongman – four years ago at 499.85 kg (1102 lb).
As the effort was recorded at his home gym in Iceland, some may not consider this as an “official” record because it was not achieved at a scheduled competition.
